My work is based on a solid foundation of psychological knowledge and research. The approaches I use are backed up by evidence that they are effective (i.e. they work) and are efficient (i.e. they work quickly and/or have lasting effects). There are many psychological approaches which do not work particularly well, do not have long lasting effects, or take an unnecessary amount of time before they work.
I am able to deliver many NICE recommended approaches to psychological and physical problems. I am also familiar with much wider research into therapy and how to enable psychological change than that covered by NICE guidance. This includes research into effective therapeutic relationships and recent developments in fields such as mindfulness and neuropsychology. I also pay attention to what my clients tell me they find helpful and to cutting edge developments in psychological treatments that may not yet be mainstreamed in the therapy world.
